ZACHAROSA NEWS

Hi Zacharosa Friends,

I can't believe it's October already! Where does the time go? Well, here is the summer/fall newsletter, finally. What a wonderful, cool summer we've had with lots of great riding weather. We seemed to have missed most of the really hot miserable days of years past.

Just to recap the past few months highlights:

Congratulations to Laura and Duke Davis for a long and successful rehab. After 2 years of careful work, a lot of support and a few setbacks, Duke started back walking under saddle as of June 12th. It was a momentous day for both Laura and Duke after such a very long hard road. Go Duke! You are amazing!

We had a wonderful 3rd of July trail ride through Charmlee Park, followed by a great BBQ and pool party. Everyone had a lot of fun and the weather for the ride was just perfect. Click here to view some of the pictures from the ride.

Summer Horse Camp was a huge success! It was a dream come true for many horse-crazy girls and boys. Between riding lessons and learning horsemanship skills we still found time for adventurous trail rides and "horsing" around bareback in the arena! The kids splashed away the heat during afternoon pool time and found unexpected delight as they soared to new heights on the rope swing. The ponies had a great time too! They were painted, braided, bathed, and groomed to a high polish - even the two miniature horses that arrived for an afternoon play date in their mini-van! We are all looking forward to continuing the fun next year. Please click here to view some pictures.

Labor Day weekend found Angie and Patrick camping and hiking in Big Sur, where Patrick waited for the perfect moment to pop the big question. Congratulations to both of them! I can hear wedding bells in the not too distant future.

Jen and her team of super 3 day riders are in the midst of another show season and we wish them all the best. I will post their show results soon. Jen also has some great horses for lease if anyone is interested.

Hopefully you have received the Halloween Play Day invite for Saturday, October 30th and you have marked your calendars. It's a very fun day for a great cause. All the money raised goes to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer research. Come down to the jump arena, wear pink, have lunch and enjoy some Halloween festivities. Or better yet, dress your four legged friend and yourself in a great costume and join the fun!

Dr. Katie Prince will have her fall vaccination clinic on Friday October 22nd. Please call me if you would like to be included. All of the horses here at the ranch must be vaccinated.

And finally, a big welcome to all the new people who have recently arrived with their four-legged friends. Pitch has come to us all the way across the country from Rochester, New York, while Romanov came from just down the street. We are also expecting Shadow, Trigger and Whitney from Sonoma to arrive shortly. Vanity has come from Topanga and Tero is back! Hope you and your horses enjoy your new home.

Hope to see you all soon!

Karen
